1.8.10 Beta

Post by er1073 »

I downloaded the file but before I installed I uninstalled the old version of MKV. When I tried to open a store a copy of the Blue Ray disc I got a error about the license being expired. The expiration date is 10 June 2014. I have attached a screen shot of the version that I attempted to download. Thank you in advance. Attachment quota has been reached? I only put one attachment on it. I will copy the contents of what I have then.

What is your system date? MakeMKV looks at the date reported by the system to determine if the beta test key is valid or not.

I did get the Beta version to work. I read very carefully when I downloaded and also noted the properties this time. The following is not verbatim. This file was downloaded from another computer yadda yadda do you want to unblock it? So I unblocked it and now it works. Just in case any of you were having this issue with MKV too.

Thank you,
Ed :D

Your system time has nothing to do with the times of forum messages - those are set by what time (in UTC) the post was received by the server. When times are off on forum messages, it's because the server's time was screwy. Trust me on this.... keeping time on web and SQL servers synchronized can be a pain, if the Network Time Protocol process decides to go off-line. :)

For MakeMKV to have complained that the beta key had expired, it would have to think the date was after June 10th, 2014. Since it's only April right now, the likely suspect is a system clock that has the wrong year on it. If you hover your mouse over the clock in the task bar, it should display the day of the week and the date, so you can check its sanity.

sonds more like a antimaleware or antivirus program

without specific information about waht program caused the problem it won't help
if you want it to be helpful to other people you should provide more information about your solution

Fawkes the program I downloaded is MKV version setup 1.8.10 Beta. In the properties of that setup file I changed the blocked to unblocked and I stated earlier MKV now works. Although MKV works I am having a problem getting the Blue Ray or the DVD to give me a good copy for my NAS (network attached storage). The movies is The Hunger Games Catching Fire. Are there new coding or something that makes it difficult to make this movies work? I haven't had any issues making any until now.

My optical drive is bay mounted. The optical drive can read the Blue Ray. This leads me to believe that the discs are heavily protected unless there is a codec that I didn't get with this Beta copy of MKV?

Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/VIDEO_TS/VTS_19_1.VOB' at offset '7005458432'
That's the operating system reporting that the drive can't read part of the disk. MakeMKV will make the request multiple times (default 5, can be set higher), but, if the drive can't read the disk, MakeMKV can't do a lot about that. Player software is programmed to ignore missing sectors, unless there are a lot of them. So what seems to be "just fine" in program XXXX isn't just fine when you're trying to get a byte-for-byte copy of the video.

First step - Clean the disk. Finger prints alone can cause errors like this. I clean my disks with wax (Pledge furniture wax), because it doesn't just clean the crap off, it also smooths over minor scratches.

I have encountered DVDs that will not read in a Bluray drive, but work fine with a DVD drive. My main ripping machine has both.

I have cleaned the optical drive with compressed air. I have cleaned all of the marks that I could see from the discs one Blue Ray the other DVD. The drive seems to be ready faster. I will update when I can. Thank you for my your help Woodstock.
