Well, that was easy...
On impulse I bought an LG BE-14 BluRay today. Got home with it and immediately hit a stone wall twice on Ubuntu, once with VLC and again with Handbrake. Harumph!, think I. Annoyed, I browse the forums and find about about this thing called MakeMKV. So I download the source and binary archives, cut and paste the example "make" and "install" commands into my CLI, wait a few minutes for each. I then type "makemkv" into that same CLI and...viola, it just works. Well now...that's worth $50 to me. Can't imagine how good it will be when (if?) it finally comes out of beta.
