Changing names before ripping

Hi. I'm using a MacPro and Mac Mini with version 1.8.0. I've entered in preferences where I want the file to be saved and it repeatedly wants to save it to my user/Movies folder. Further, when I enter the name of the file I wish to use it disregards it and assuigns it a 0x.mkv filename. What gives?
