I assume lots of people would tend to think OmniDrive (1.0.4) can be flashed and used by redumper on just about any "BU40N-class" drive. Apparently, this is not so.
Aside from the fact that the wiki used to warn people about some enclosures blocking the flashing commands needed for OmniDrive, it would appear that there are some enclosures that will allow you to flash custom LibreDrive/OmniDrive firmware but will also block the OmniDrive commands for OmniDrive detection and Wii game disc ripping (for example) that redumper needs.
(Untested) If you own a BRXL-PUS6U3B and wish to rip GameCube/Wii/Xbox discs, you may in fact need to remove the BU40N from the enclosure and either connect it with a SATA to USB adapter or use another enclosure that doesn't seem to mind OmniDrive commands.
For what it's worth, BP55EB40 drives do not have that issue, as far as I know.

Re: OmniDrive-related warning for Buffalo BRXL-PUS6U3B
I was able to get past this issue with
Code: Select all
./redumper --force-omnidriveHowever, I ran into another issue. It would appear that flashing OmniDrive 1.0.4 (or, presumably, any other version of OmniDrive) onto a BRXL-PUS6U3B takes away its LibreDrive compatibility (again, possibly due to the enclosure). I was completely unable to get MakeMKV to recognize it as a LibreDrive-enabled drive. I will double-check my BP55EB40s as soon as possible (I am on a trip right now), but I do not believe they have this issue. While my Buffalo drive can probably be flashed 60+ times, I have already had to do a lot of flashing to actually pinpoint the issue, and I am not looking forward to having to re-flash it every time I need to switch from dumping a GameCube/Wii disc to dumping a 4K disc and vice-versa. I will probably just use my BP55EB40s for Nintendo dumping (among other things), and keep using the Buffalo and my Pioneers for additional 4K dumps.force OmniDrive mode (if drive enclosure overwrites drive inquiry)
