A flashing guide you can find here viewtopic.php?t=19634
But it matters if your 43890 contains a LG BU40N or a Pioneer BDR-UD03. Post your MakeMKV drive info when it's arrived.

The BDR-UD03 can be flashed to BDR-UD04 and it is the slightly better drive but hard to be found nowadays. And you can only flash the LG variant by yourself with the SDF Flasher and the firmware pack which can be found in the link above. For the Pioneer variant you should ask for flashing support here and someone will help you.

Type in the "SearchBox" for "BDE-PR1"
You will see 2 models come up..
Download his "Flasher" too.. Simple and fool proof. remember to do a "BackUp and also do a Dump" before you flash it.

Since it will be a "Calculated Risk on your part, and you fully understand the risks" i would say any of the 2, or you could also try both..
remember to back up and also to dump the firmware before you press the button to flash!!
if i had those drives in my own hands i would just "Proceed and try my luck"
there is also a "Recovery Button" in his flasher to do the work if need be.
i have been flashing everything in my hands with his flasher and the extensive list of ever growing "1500 Pioneer Firmwares to choose from" Hehehehehe!!

Not sure which flashers you are referring to, however, for what it is worth, BDRFlash++ is capable of crossflashing both the BDW-PR1EPDV and the BDE-PR1EP. (which is why I am selling these (crossflashed) drives in the sellers forum). I'm definitely biased, but I’d honestly recommend BDRFlash++ or Matt’s Flasher since both are totally free to use and were built right from scratch.HSH1979 wrote: Mon Oct 19, 2026 10:01 amThanks! Do you want to crossflash your Pioneer drive with UHD-compatible firmware? Check out BDRFlash++ here.

Re: Just purchased a Verbatim 43890
its totally fine to be "biased" buddy, its just that i really am not familiar with this "CLI or Terminal Thingy"
That's the reason i leaned more, and am definitely more comfortable with Matt's App.. just press buttons, choose firmwares conveniently from his extensive firmware page and see if it can be crossflashed, downgraded, sidegraded, upgraded...Hehehehe!!
