What about the BDR-S11JX?

Post by babayaga »

Hey guys, I'm ordering a BDR-S11JX for a friend of mine, that wanted an internal bluray-drive solution and it ended up with that model - now days there aren't that many choices either, so anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it, and had some thoughts on what kind of drive this is, is it durable, quiet, etc? any thoughts? :)

you dont know as these most of these drive are fake they were some sort of 211 then flashed with s11jx fw
and re-cased to look new
there were no s11jx being made in 2024 as the stickers say
the drive could be 1 disc away from death or go for years i personally would not support them as they are being deceptive on multiple fronts
if you want to sell a crossflashed 211 thats fine but call it that
alot of normal people buy these and then get upset it wont do regular official bluray playback

now lets stop posting this everywhere asking the same question you email me
pmed me
posted it it another thread

I owned two Pioneer drives (bought brand new when they were just released) in the past and they both had this same issue that the tray eventually (kinda soon) become hard to eject. (And I was not even a heavy user at all. It's almost like they were both "programmed" to get that problem at some point.) IIRC the older one was a BDR-S05(XLB?) that was made in Japan like the BDR-S11J-X. (So I'm pretty much doubt that "MIJ" would mean much for later generations.) And the red laser of my BDR-S08XLT died after I ripped less than maybe 30~40 DVDs + 20 CDs. (Although it died pretty recently, like last year or so.) (I don't remember burning a single disc with either of them.)

*Supposedly* -X models should be of "really high quality build", and allegedly they have "more optimized firmware", but I feel like it is all just some kind of hoax that targeted those with big money (especially "audiophiles" who check their CD rips with their golden ears). At best they might give better burning quality, I'd say.

It shouldn't get too noisy as all Pioneer drives are bound to rip BD / UHD BD more slowly (compared to LG / ASUS drives; see the UHD guide). And supposedly / allegedly the "honeycomb" design helps in making it quiet as well.

calm down, i was just looking for a civil discussion about a drive. I found a seller on ebay in the US that seems legit, the 2004 drive was my mistake, i have stopped looking at all the drives coming from China. Also i only sent you a pm, i haven't emailed you about this as well, but im sorry you feel that way, will not trouble you again.
