When loading DVDs the stage of opening the disk/processing titles is mostly taking upwards of 20 minutes before it lists titles for me to select. If opening a blu-ray it is generally only about a minute. The time to rip makes more sense - c. 20 minutes for DVD and 40 for a blu-ray; it is just the initial loading that is problematic. What might be going on? I have tested multiple DVDs and blu-rays, the behaviour is consistent across all disks.
OS: OpenSUSE Tumbleweed Linux (fully up to date)
Drive: Pioneer BDR-XD07 (external USB drive)

An update because I have now encountered some which are not taking excessively long. Titles that have taken a long time scanning titles (mostly around 20 minutes:
