Hi there!
I'm looking for Pioneer driver mostly to burn some BD-R both 50GB and 100GB for my compatible stand-alone UHD player. I recently purchased the internal LG BU40N, but the results are not as expected.
I'm having a look to Amazon, and I have seen some external (Pioneer does not manufacture laptop drives anymore it seems) drive, but I'm confused with the nomenclature. I have read some people talking about Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD, which seems to be top of the class and it's UHD friendly by itself (it seems), but I just seem to find the https://www.amazon.es/Pioneer-BDR-XD07T ... 423&sr=1-2 on Amazon, and that's my doubt. Is there any ifference between both of them?
Also, I have seen both https://www.amazon.es/Pioneer-BDR-XS07T ... 423&sr=1-4 and https://www.amazon.es/Pioneer-BDR-XD07T ... 423&sr=1-5
Any hint on which one to choose?
Thanks in advance!!
Looking for Pioneer drives
Re: Looking for Pioneer drives
I find Amazon to be a terrible place to try to learn anything about products.
Europe
https://pioneer-blurayodd.eu
North America
https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA ... ter+Drives
At a quick glance, the XS are slot loading drives while the XD are top loading drives.
You could also get an internal drive and put it in an enclosure. I have 3 'internal' drives, including one Pioneer, on my desk in enclosures connected to my computer via USB.

Re: Looking for Pioneer drives
Hi,
I bought this exact drive myself from Amazon UK:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B081JX8R39? ... ct_details
It seems I bought the last one...
Someone on this forum recommened a slightly different version of this which was the front load and not the clamshell but when i tried to find it this is the only one that came up and also only on Amazon. In the amazon UK reviews two people mention MakeMKV compatibility so I took the chance. I have just finsished my first RIP of a 4K UHD movie using the drive and MakeMKV and I put the file on my NAS, uploaded it to Plex and played it from the native Plex app in my LG TV and the TV recognised it as HDR and the picture quality is great. No issues here so far but only 1 disc in!
