LG BP60NB10 Questions

Post by grazstarr »

Hi there. I'm going to preface this with saying that I'm a full on novice at all of this. I got myself the BP60NB10 and have been copying blu ray's to my Macbook Pro M1 (Monteray 12.4) perfectly fine using Make MKV. Tonight I got a 4k UHD disk? blu ray? Not sure the terminology for the actual disc. Anyway the reader won't copy the disc. It comes up with the text in the log attached saying it's protected. I've tried to understand about the Libre Drive however I don't know how to workout which version my reader is as I can't find on my mac where to actually access this info. It doesn't come up in Disk Utility.

So if I could have some help please:

Do I need to know the version of my reader?
Do I need to downgrade my LG BP reader? If so how?
Is Libre Drive already part of Make MKV? I have the latest update 1.17.1
How can I copy the latest 4k UHD's?

Apologies but I've followed links about flashing etc and a lot of them assume the user understands a lot about flashing drives.
I've downloaded "The All You Need Firmware Pack" and opened the "LG slim USB BP60NB10" folder which has a BIN file that my mac can't open as it doesnt have an app that recognises it. I'm a novice but keen to learn.

Thanks in advance.

Could try installing parallels trial version and then use the flashing tool from within windows 10. Of if you have a friend with a windows machine, borrow it to flash your drive.

parallels does not work for flashing it does not fully pass through the drive

You can flash a drive with your Mac by doing it on the command line in Terminal.

The UHD Drives Flashing Guide has a Mac/Linux command line section that lists the steps and shows an example of what to do.
