UHD friendly or official?
UHD friendly or official?
Hi! I recently wanted to rip my LotR 4k remaster copy to load it on our plex server however my blu-ray drive is too old for 4k media and cannot read the disc. When i was looking through the list of uhd compatible drives i noticed there are "Friendly" and "official" drives. I am not an expert on that field and wanted to ask which sort of drive would be better for those tasks. Os: win10 Ripping software: DVDFab12

To suit your requirements, a drive flashed with BU40N 1.00 firmware would be best. That drive could be an Archgon or BU40N or perhaps a BP50NB40 or BP60NB10 cross-flashed. Whichever is available to you at the right price.onkey89 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 10:22 amHi! If you are in Australia (or NZ) I can help with that. See my signature.

Re: UHD friendly or official?
Why would that be preferable to the newly compatible official drives like the Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 10:07 pmTo suit your requirements, a drive flashed with BU40N 1.00 firmware would be best. Re: UHD friendly or official?
My recommendations are due to onkey89's requirements as Pioneer drives do not work with DVDFab.Cheeseplz wrote: ↑Mon Apr 04, 2022 9:17 pmWhy would that be preferable to the newly compatible official drives like the Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 10:07 pmTo suit your requirements, a drive flashed with BU40N 1.00 firmware would be best.
