BP55EB40

Hi everyone,

I recently bought my first UHD Bluray and wanted to rip it. As my drive didn't recognize it, i googled and found some guides. I followed the steps mentioned here: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 909#p89909 and almost bricked my drive. I unbricked it with the help of "sdftool_flasher" and the drive is working now.

My drive was built 2016 and its Platform is MT1959 and its SVC is EB40. The only real difference between the drive in the mentioned post and mine is that mine is on revision and firmware 1.00 instead of 1.01.

Is there a chance to get it UHD friendly or do i have to get a new drive?

No. Unless the sticker on your drive says BP55EB40-NB50. I guess the other guys with NB40 were just lucky or had already the NB50 hardware.
You can still try an UHD disc if it works. But I doubt it.
