Saving ENCRYPTED Blu-ray discs

I was probably asleep at the wheel somewhere along the line, as surely this must have been previously discussed, so I'll ask now:

What is the purpose/benefit of selecting "Save as encrypted" (rather than the other, logical option, to save as decrypted) when using MakeMKV's "save full Blu-ray disc" option?

For backup purposes. Saving "encrypted" backup should always work, even if MakeMKV can't handle encryption for the disc.
