Really stupid noob question

Hello, I apologize for even asking this, but here goes:

I want a 1:1 lossless copy, and don't want any artifacts. I don't care about space; I have plenty.

I just used Make MKV and it seemed to work, but I'll not pretend I know what I'm talking about here.

1:1 copy: Check (MakeMKV does not change the video)
zero artifacts: Depends on the disk author and the compression settings they used (MakeMKV does not change the video)
