system thread exception not handled blue screen

Soon after installing the latest version of MakeMKV, my system started to experience frequent blue-screen errors. The error is System Thread Exception Not Handled. It appears to be related to the C++ Runtime. At least that's as far as I can tell from the System Restore changes.

Verify you do not have an antivirus program moving part of MakeMKV. There have been instances of false positives on some virus checkers because it checks for updates on a server located in a "bad place", according to the AV vendor. You can disable version checks in Preferences->General as a test.
