New...Deadpool Multiple Titles Help

Post by Quillball »

Hi I am new to MakeMKV. I have done two movies with the software, it was easy to figure out which title I needed to choose, it made one MKV file, I converted it so hubs could watch on his ipad, voila. I just got Deadpool. There are loads of titles that seem to not be the whole movie, or will make multiple mkv files. I am clueless which to choose. I tried choosing just one title that had 28 chapters and was about 25gigs, but it just put 28 mkv files in the output folder. I tried one that was just one chapter but it was just a segment of the movie. I read a post about multiple titles but it was confusing and a few years old. Can anyone help? TIA

When a disk has lots of extras, it is sometimes more difficult to find the movie, but usually not that hard. The run time of the movie will usually be listed on the box, so you can look for titles that match that. IMDB says the movie run time is 108 min, which MakeMKV would display as 1:48:nn.

Some publishers do things a bit different - if you have a disk published by Disney, for example, there will be 2 or 3 copies of the movie, numbered 800, 801, and 802, that differ only in the title sequences for English, French, and Spanish.

If you have a disk put out by Lionsgate, there can be HUNDREDS of fake titles, and which one is correct varies with where you buy it from. THOSE are confusing to get information on.

Thank you for your helpful reply. It looks like i picked the right title the first time then. But that made a load of mkv files. How can i keep it from doing that? Or do i have to join them together to be one big file using a different program? If the latter, which do you recommend?

Thank you!!

MakeMKV does not normally break a file up - it simply copies it into an MKV file. Are you sure you didn't have multiple files selected?

If you want to ONLY rip ONE track, you would normally right-click on the selection screen, click "Unselect all" from the pop-up menu, then click on the box next to the title you want to save.

I'm not sure what I did earlier, but i tried again after posting here, and it came out fine. I don't think I had multiple titles selected, maybe I issed something. In any case it has worked out now. Thank you for replies!

By default, MakeMKV will select every title over your Minimum title length (Preferences->Video), and you have to deselect anything you don't want. The default is 120 seconds (2 minutes).

It is possible that you DEselected the movie, rather than selected it, and got "everything else".

I'm aware of that. I deselect everything and go from there. Like I said, I'm not sure what happened, but if I run into the problem again I will try to figure it out or recreate it.
