Bluray rip single or multiple files?

Post by Knighthammer »

Hello,

Just started using MKV and it seems pretty easy and straight forward to us (thanks!) but I've got a question though. I ripped a bluray last night and was surprised to see the output in multiple files - instead of 1 file. Does it really mater for storage/playback? To me - 1 file seems simpler to keep track of. Is there a setting to do that?

Hi!

If you use MakeMKV to create .MKV files (as opposed to making a BluRay disc copy/backup), as you've seen, you'll be provided with a list of ALL of the titles that appear on the disc. The titles will include one for the main movie (usually easy to determine based on the number of chapters and, if you highlight the title, the running time0 and possibly many others regarding "extras" and "trailers" that may appear on the disc.

Most users are typically interested in selecting only the "main movie" title but, of course, you can also select other titles that may be of interest to you...
