That's not a very good thread. I read through that thread and many others and it wasn't until I hit the main index did a see a post (which I cannot find now) of someone saying they had success by cross flashing to 3.10 then restarting and flashing to 1.03 which I did and it worked flawlessly.
Theses other threads are ONLY great if you have an older LG drive firmware installed at the time of purchase. FW 1.04 and you have to cross flash first, but of course no one points this out nor do they make point notes on how to flash the WH16NS40 NS50 with factory 1.04 firmware. So it's unfortunately very CONFUSING!
If you have an LG WH16NS40 svc NS50 with factory 1.04 firmware installed and you have tired all these different flasher apps from these old threads but keep getting the "Write DRAM NG 05/26/03" error or something to this effect here is what I recommend you do.
Download the package that has the "BH14NS40_N1.00-A4_patched" application in it along with the different firmware's. You will need to use the "ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014" firmware first to flash your LG WH16NS40 then restart your computer, once your computer is restarted then flash the drive with the WH16NS40 1.02 or 1.03 firmware and you'll have to restart again. Your drive will be unlocked at this point and 4K UHD blurays will start working.
Before doing this my John Wich 2 4K UHD bluray wasn't recongized, it would not mount, after cross flashing my WH16NS40 I was able to mount the disc and rip it using makemkv.
I have had a LG WH16NS40 for a while and at the rate I am buying 4K BDs and how long they take to backup, I bought a second and ran directly into your issue with the new drive that came today. Your post was a life saver and I managed to get it downgraded succesfully and am now doing two 4K BD backups simultaneously.
Would give you the most crisp high five if I could.

A minor but important suggestion. The flasher tool is not included anymore. Please include either the LG or ASUS flasher in the top folder.
Thank you!

3.10 does not fix the sleep bug
Can u tell me, what the "sleep bug" is?
And what is now the recommended FW for an LG BH16NS55 crossflashed as ASUS BW-16D1HT?

I am planning to buy a BW-16D1HT. My local (european) vendor offers two versions BW-16D1HT/B and BW-16D1HT/G. Does anyone know, if one or both versions are compatible with the firmware patches? Thanks in advance

I recently bought another BW-16D1HT and it came with v3.10 and I couldn't do UHD & I was sad. I knew about the issue since I have another BW-16D1HT on v3.02. I used the MK firmware and uploaded it to my drive and now I can read UHD. Thank you so much Mike. You are the bomb!!

But MK 3.10 is a friendly firmware.
This answers my question (hopefully) that I was about to ask. My ASUS BW-16D1HT drive is currently UHD friendly with the current 3.02 firmware. If I download and install MK3.10 (or later??) will the drive still function as a UHD friendly drive in other programs? I pretty much have nothing to lose and what I could gain are possible bug fixes/optimizations?

I tried to update my LG BP55-EB40 using the modified LG flasher with MK firmware. But everytime I attempt to flash it, I get following error code: "Checksum is mismatched. Drive will go to BOOT mode." Any suggestions?

That's correct it will still function as a friendly drive.
