Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Regarding the L1 bug that was recently discovered, does this affect all movies?
Do all movies use L1 information? If not, can I check if a movie contains it?
Does this only affect newer UHD/DV movies?
I'm struggling to find a good way to play FEL movies now...

Thanks ... I've read that but I'm confused especially regarding the Oppo 203. This player was regarded as the best (ie. "reference quality") but nobody has noticed this bug for years? (and no reviewer mentioned this problem when testing, etc?)

well, the bug only affects the newer TV, and quietvoid's pattern is quite recent and without it, it can be hard to spot.
I heard a lot of people with CX/C1 saying that they find the quality much better using the internal TV player. Now it makes more sense than ever.
Also, the DV engine is a black box to the player. So its not oppo, sony's fault
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Dolby can do that, it's only a matter of whether they want to.
There's no way for Apple to prepare hardware for 5 years ago iPad to do cmv4.0.
In fact, I think they can let any device that is capable of decoding 2 hevc tracks at same time be able to display FEL through software update.

Does anyone know if there is a better way to hybrid RPU to BL?
I'm trying to extract RPU from profile 5 ICtCp Pirates.of.the.Caribbean.2003 and hybrid that to Bluray BL to get unofficial MEL.
The only problem is RPU in P5 is like 0.5s ahead of the Bluray. But P5 is actually slightly longer than Bluray.
So is there a better way to find out how many RPUs I should exactly duplicate at the begining instead of try again and again? Many thanks.
By the way, there is no DV Bluray for this series right? I couldn't find any on rar*g.

Could someone explain in layman term how this new L1 bug affects the picture quality?I read the last few pages but don't quite get it. I'm using the recently purchased x700 with the lg c9 oled and it sucks if it turns out the x700 is unusable again.

C9 has the old DV engine so you don't have this problem.deadchip12 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 12:59 amI'm using the recently purchased x700 with the lg c9 oled and it sucks if it turns out the x700 is unusable again.

Hmm I see... so the newer TVs have the new DV engine and the x700/x800m2 have the old one and that causes issues? Do you know what is the difference between the new and old DV engine? And what is the effect of this mismatch on picture quality exactly? Dimmer images?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 1:31 amC9 has the old DV engine so you don't have this problem.deadchip12 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 12:59 amI'm using the recently purchased x700 with the lg c9 oled and it sucks if it turns out the x700 is unusable again.
If this is a software related problem, hopefully Sony can push an update on the x700/x800m2. I wonder if this only happens with files played via usb or to discs as well.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Yeah, this Dolby Vision stuff is really complicated.
What's the interaction between the player (x700/x800m2) and the TV (LG C9, CX, C1, etc) ?
If the bug is in the player, then why does the TV make a difference?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
it's not a player bug.
It's Dolby's faulty implementation in newer TV.

Oh so the new engine is faulty? Then I guess Dolby and LG have to work together to release an update on the newer TVs. I will try tagging Vincent from HDTV Test on twitter so he can be aware of this. He has good contacts at LG.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 1:58 amit's not a player bug.

you could add a link to quietvoid's pattern.
