Is there any difference between the UD03 and UD04 or are they the same drive ?

Is that why you can crossflash them ?

And if you have a UHD enabled firmware is there any change to that compared to original firmware in terms of writing quality to media or reading discs etc, other than you can read UHD discs with makemkv that you can not do with original firmware ?

You do not ship to Europe ?

I can still get LG BP55EB50 slim drives, I think there is at least 50-100 devices but I would have to drive around where I am at to every store and buy them, patch and resell them, not something i want to do. I can also buy Verbatim drives from one place here, 13 in stock right now, don't know where they source them from. Somewhere in Europe I guess.

The only real difference is the UD04 is a UHD drive so includes the AACS 2 chip.

They are cross-flashed with Pioneer original firmware, just firmware from the UHD (UD04) model.

@MartyMcNuts nice. I will get back to you late this week or next week. I want a Verbatim case with a UD03 and I can accept that shipping could cost me up to 100 euros depending on what typ and how fast.

Speed is not essential but rather to get my hands on a genuine unit. I also manage to find out that the Verbatim case has a VLI (VIA Technologies) SATA to USB bridge chip, at least most cases should have that chip and it seem people are saying it is a good stable chip to use with operating systems. A bad SATA-to-USB bridge chip typically causes issues like drives not being detected, intermittent disconnections, slow file transfers, or data corruption etc. I have had issues with Jmicron chips but my other Ascom (asus) chip is still solid as a rock, worked perfect with Win7 and Win10.

Anyway the verbatim drive can be removed and used with SATA, this is not possible with the slim drive pioneer models.
