It's so nice that dis 2012 drive will not die just cause eol. I'm using ist an bought new Verbatim 43888 and libredrive'd it to use it directly in linux. but sadly I didn't find a way (fw) for my ASUS 12D1S-U
Is there a way to keep on using this drive on linux (libredrive) to keep it spinning?
Thanx in advance

Hi Coopervid,
I came across this post about enabling UHD Blu-ray support on the ASUS BW-12D1S-U.
I have the exact same drive and firmware configuration as some of the users you have successfully helped.
My drive information:
* Model: ASUS BW-12D1S-U
* Firmware: E401
* Firmware date: 2013-09-10
* Drive platform: RS8600
* Hardware ID: ID44
* Internal drive: Pioneer BDR-209
* LibreDrive status: Enabled
* BD raw data read: Yes
* Unrestricted read speed: Yes
* Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
I’m currently using macOS Monterey 12.7.
I would really like to enable UHD Blu-ray reading on this drive so I can use it with MakeMKV.
I noticed that another user successfully cross-flashed a similar drive, which was then identified as a Pioneer BDR-S11.
Would you be willing to help me with the correct firmware and flashing procedure for my drive?
I’d also like to know whether flashing can be done directly on macOS or if Windows is required.
Thank you very much for your time and help!
Best regards
Coopervid
