You'll only get HDR10 if you try this. You either need an Oppo uhd-bd player (or its clone), or a converted MP4 to get Dolby Vision, the latter only has lossy audio. The Matroska devs are working on an MKV update to support Dolby Vision, but there's no ETA as of yet.

Overlooked this... need to look into this too also I think...
Yeah, I'm glad someone else noticed.
For now I'm just caching the DV Layer so I can potentially fix the seeking later without having to re-rip all my DV titles.
I think I have solved the mystery of re-encoded DV rips not being able to seek effiently.

I was playing around with the raw streams and noticed that seeking was fine but not after re-encoding the hdr10 portion of the stream.

After playing around with several options, I found that adding the following option to handbrake solved my seeking issues.

uhd-bd=1
This adds uhd compatibility. There is one catch this option forces crf. Which is fine for me cause I was already using it to re-encode. I compared my hdr10 file before and after using this option and it only increased the file size by 1G.

Hopefully this helps others who are re-encoding.

From what i know, the C9 is unable to play .iso files.
The C9 can play m2ts files from a BDMV/STREAM folder, but they will play only in hdr10.
So, the only way to get DV from a file is to make a mp4 file with the mp4muxer from DolbyLaboratories.

You can't have DV and lossless audio.
The mp4 file supports only Dolby Digital (AC-3), Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC-3), and Dolby AC-4.

Also, DV does not currently work in the MKV container.

I dont know about the cloneBD method, but here is the one i use and that work.
Exemple : To make a DV version of Alita Battle Angel, with French and English audio.

1/ BDinfo => to scan for the m2ts files that you have to join to demux the ISO/BDMV

2/ tsMuxeR GUI 2.6.12 => to demux the tracks you want

note:
At the end of the demux stage and to make it easier, i rename the files:
- for the HDR10 => bl.hevc
- for the DV layer => el.hevc
- the french audio => audio_fr.dts
- and english audio => audio_en.ac3

For the english track, i directly downconvert TrueHD to ac3, so there is no more work to do on english file.
So now i have: audio_fr.dts and audio_en.ac3

3/ eac3to => to convert audio file to codec supported by mp4 (e-ac3 or ac3)
As the audio_fr file is in dts, i need to convert it to ac3.

4/ mp4muxer_64bits => to make the DV mp4 file
Now, all the files are in a format supported by the mp4 container.
I can make the DV mp4 file.

note:
At the end you can rename the DV-Movie.mp4 file. For exemple, Alita, Battle Angel [FR ac3][EN ac3][4k][DV].mp4 :wink:

First audio track will be played by default.
On LG C7, when you select the second track, you lose the sound (LG bug?), but if you go back 15 seconds, then it works and you have the sound of the second track.

mp4 also supports non-atmos 7.1 ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec). if you want the keep the original ~7mbps audio (minus atmos) and get Dolby Vision at the same time it's pretty simple; True-HD / DTS-HD MA --> PCM 7.1 --> ALAC. obviously Apple TV 4k (and LG OLED's) support it just fine, not sure of all the specific models, though.

OK, I figured out the problem totally. I have no idea how LG and Vizio TVs are doing Profile 7, but TVs are only supposed to support dvhe.04.07/dvhe.05.07 while UHD BD players can do dvhe.07.06/dvhe.07.07 which is what is mentioned in this thread. When I used dv-profile 5 instead of 7, it worked perfectly on my TCL Roku 4K TV and still retained 12 bit color info as it had two streams.
