congrats on the upgraded drive, one question though - what updater did you use to get to bn11, I'm seeing only the 2.00 updater from Buffalo which you linked earlier, not sure if this contains what I need?
Do I even need to update or do I just cross-flash to 1.03 from Mike?
Thanks for all the info!
You should use the modified ASUS flasher.

So how did it go? My Buffalo drive really needed the LG LibreDrive FW (1.03) in order to read the UHD blu-ray discs.

I always use the 1.00 BU40N firmware I wonder what the differences are.
I've got pre-flashed BU40Ns for sale in either the Buffalo or Vantec enclosures. Immediate shipping available.

Hello,
just wanted to report back that my Buffalo BRXL-PT6U2VB is a UHD-friendly device now:
1. Crossflashing worked like a charm with
this MK firmware

2. Device shows up as LibreDrive compatible:

3. and
CAN FINALLY READ UHD-blurays:

@mike admin
Just in case you might be still interested in Buffalo firmwares, they released a new FW update tool [
brdrive_fwupdater_200.exe], featuring:
a. Buffalo_BU40N_FW_Updater_2.01.exe
b. Buffalo_BH16NS58_FW_Updater_2.01.exe
It works!
- I used the firmware you linked
- I used the ASUS Crossflash exe if found on this site
Took all of 2 minutes.
Thanks planet1 for your post
