I'm not familiar with a model with an "S" at the end?

Anyway, there is no 1.00 in the MK firmware as 1.00 is the stock,already enable firmware (so no need for an MK version). You can find it in the firmware pack provided with the modified ASUS flasher. The firmware is called DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.

Hi guys, new to the forums. My fiance bought this drive. It is the MD-8107S-U3 (it does not have the -UHD at the end, but on the front of the drive it does say Ultra HD). So it included the shitty Cyberlink software which didn't work. She couldn't even watch 1080 BluRays on it. We found a way to get it to work on VLC Player. But we can NOT find a way to play UHD. She just wants to watch her UHD disks, nothing more. I hope you guys can help. I see mention of a firmware downgrade. Is there a step by step for dummies to do that? We've tried VLC Player, Windows Media Player, MakeMKV, AnyDVD with no luck. Here is what we know...

@metroplex2k7 .. these slim drives are NOT UHD friendly drives and there is no firmware available to downgrade them to UHD friendly drives. Hence they wont work with AnyDVD HD .. these however work great with MakeMKV when flashed with the appropriate firmware as mentioned on this thread.

I bought a patched drive with version 1.4.
It was patched with the Leowo UHD Drive Tool.
I will try to rip UHDs with DVDFAB and Makemkv at this weekend.

Is this patched version 1.4 ok, or should I downgrade to version 1.0 (if that is possible)?

No, I already bought it flashed otherwise I would have definitely bought your package for 25$. A very fair price!
Just wanted to know if the 1.4 patched version is ok or if I should rather downgrade it to version 1.0.

yes you could buy my flash tool or martys both of us have the option to flash down to 1.00 BU40N.
but you are likely fine with that fw try it out first.
