That would explain the lack of support at launch.

Who knows maybe, the CX only has 1 decoder instead of the 2 required, would not surprise me, manufacturers undercut sucessfull product lines for profit all the time.

Have seen this happen a lot, a product gets fame for its quality and then next versions are cutdown for profit with inferior materials or features.

Maybe LG thougth no one would notice since streaming is MEL and that would really suck, i dont see much difference beetween DV MEL vs plain HDR + dynamic tonemaping or HDR10+, DV was about FEL.

Could very well be the case. Although I will say that the initial support for DTDL DV in mp4s on a smart tv has always been a bit odd. It could've just been a lucky coincidence with the early implementation of DV. Since FEL content is only found on bluray disks, TVs honestly have no need to have two decoders available for DV.

Not sure exactly what the Main10 part means, but an obvious explanation for the difference you see in those two files you're comparing is that one is a from a native profile 5 source and the other is converted from a profile 7 disk. Given that there is no colorspace transformation during the conversion, it's not surprising that the resulting "profile 5" video might look wrong.

SL is there to make a difference to DL version visible.
L5.1 is correct, like every Bluray.

You confuse metadata decoder with 2. full-fledged HEVC decoder (which restores the original from FEL with 12bit)

For Netflix Dolby Vision is only DV Profil 5 / 8 necessary, without 2. HEVC stream / FEL:

Being able to do TV-led DV has nothing to do with whether it has 2 HEVC decoders or not. If that's the case, then every DV capable TV that's not a Sony should be able to play DL FEL mp4s. The decoding step (1 HEVC or 2 HEVC decoders needed to reconstruct the original picture) occurs prior to the tone mapping step (TV-led or player-led).

it's not re-encoded.. it's a true untouched WEB-DL ...
many folks see pirated stuff and automatically assume it's captured / re-encoded.

Dolby Vision cannot be recorded with a capture card. The only way of getting DV rip out of streaming services is by downloading/bypassing the DRM which pirate groups have been able to do for many months now.

that is not true..... there's a couple of uhd-bd that shows that they use x265. mostly the german bluray disc release
also happen all the time with streaming service.. Your own iTunes 1080p DRM download will sometimes show the x264 encoder/ settings. Studios can do whatever they want.

Also, that file info you posted is clearly re-encoded from the true MZABi WEB-DL which is 22mb/s and doesn't show x265 settings.
of course anyone can call his encode WEB-DL , that why you must stick to the reputable release group, who the hell is ronin lol and that file is not even in DV....

Could someone please do a comparison video of FEL from any blu ray player with FEL to MEL converted file played through the internal player of CX (or through native plex app)? Or if it's already done, would be grateful if they link it. Thanks in advance
