Your instructions worked like a charm. No issues whatsoever. Thank you. I can't reply to your PM as I am a new user but look for nmcdeal in a recent message you may have received.Coopervid wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 3:59 pmPM sent.nmcdeal wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 3:10 pm Hello there,
Yes newbie here.
I have read online in these forums that my BluRay drive is able to be flashed and read UHD Bruray discs.
I have provide details of my drive below from MakeMKV
My Drive is a BD-RE ASUS BW-16D1H-U drive manufactured Dec 2021.
However when I use SDFtol Flasher v1.3.6 it says that I don't have the MT1959 platform that allows flashing ?!?
Is someone able to assist me? I am stuck in what I need to do next.
Thank you in advance.
Also is there a link to the firmware

But okay, so it's only Pioneer drives where the firmware has to be asked for over on the other forum. Glad that's cleared up.Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-212T
Stop posting stuff off topic to the guide thank you and goodbyecomadose wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 1:42 pmBut okay, so it's only Pioneer drives where the firmware has to be asked for over on the other forum. Glad that's cleared up.Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-212T
Just a heads-up that the 43888 has recently come back in stock at Amazon.com. I grabbed myself a spare!austincummings0324 wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 5:40 amTried looking for some of these online and it doesn't seem like any are available right now and all are on back order. Any other recommendations?MartyMcNuts wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 4:10 am Verbatim 43887 (normally a Pioneer BDR-UD03), 43888 (contains a LG BU40N), 43889 (contains a LG BU40N) or 43890 (can be either a Pioneer BDR-UD03 or a LG BU40N).![]()
EDIT: Never mind! I searched around and found that LibreDrive ignores the region codes. Gave it a try and had an issue at first not detecting any discs, but I found another post on here where someone mentioned using a USB 3 or higher port as others do not provide enough power. Swapped to a Lightning/SS port and it works as intended.MartyMcNuts wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 6:30 am
You must have been extremely lucky and got an old unit from wherever you bought it. They stopped putting Pioneer drives in the 43888 early 2025!!
You do not need to do anything as it is already UHD compatible out of the box. Just insert a UHD disc and start ripping!!
MakeMKV doesn't care about region coding and removes/ignores it.Mort- wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 4:53 pmEDIT: Never mind! I searched around and found that LibreDrive ignores the region codes. That's what I assumed, but wanted to make sure.
Do I have to worry about this drive being region locked or does that not matter with the MakeMKV software? I know that if I were to use this as a normal BD or UHD drive it would either not let me do so or potentially change the region after 1-3 uses but I only intend to use this as a backup drive not for playback.
Thanks again!
Sure email me for the auto flasher see below for emailsgtstrife wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 11:49 pm I had a SH216 set up thanks to this forum a few years ago. It died from too much ripping, ha. I bought a BDR-212V and just now got around to getting it set up. However, I've lost most of my knowledge over that time. I tried poking around on this forum but it seems like most problems are getting fixed via PM's. Can someone help me get this set up?
