Also when I run SDFtool Flasher.exe I get this error and I have MakeMKV running.

Thanks
The SDFtool Flasher (GUI front-end for native MakeMKV CLI flasher) expects MakeMKV to be installed in its default location.

New to the forum.
I have been ripping my Bluray and DVD collection for about a year now and am getting close to done. Running into some discs/series that aren't working.
So, figured it was time to flash the drive and see how it all does after that.
I have the following:

Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom0
Current profile: DVD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BH16NS40
Revision: 1.05
Firmware date: 2120-05-06 13:31
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 72

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 1.05
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)

Which firmware should I flash to this drive, and after the initial flash due to encryption, should I flash to a newer firmware?

Thanks in advance!
The recommended firmware for your drive is WH16NS60 1.02-MK. Just the flash it and you are all good.
Thank you! All worked well!
I have the same Drive and LibreDrive information and want to be able to rip 4K / UHD disks. Is it as simple as:

1. Open SDFtool Flasher (v1.3.6)
2. Check "MT1959 Platform" and "Encrypted Firmware" (leaving "Include boot loader" unchecked)
3. Select my drive "HL-DT-ST_BD-RE__BH16NS40_1.05_212005061331_XXXXXXXXXXX"
4. Select "WRITE Firmware"
5. Select the firmware file "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin" (from the all you need firmware pack)
6. Click "Start"

Based on what I've read, I don't need to flash to one firmware and then flash to another. It seems too good to be true, so I assume I'm missing something.

Thanks!

Step 2 is automatic. You will see both with a green tick.

It really was that simple. I'm ripping a 4K disc right now without any issues. Thanks!

Hi all!

I'm still very new to this, and i've been able to rip normal Blu-Rays for a few days now but I noticed my drive is showing LibreDrive as enabled but it's not patched and not able to read my UHD Blu-Rays. Looking through the doc (and I might have missed it forgive me) I don't see my drive listed as supported. I saw a post somewhere on here where Windows might have been taking over with AutoPlay but I did disable that and restarted with the drive unplugged, plugged it back in and turned on but still no dice. Am I out of luck?

Drive Information
OS device name: F:
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1X-U
Revision: E113
Serial number: DGDL118723WL
Firmware date: 2020-07-21
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 78

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8F00
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-212T
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: E113/ID76
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

No disc inserted

Thank you so much for these resources.

I have the LG BP50NB40 and am a bit confused by this section:
WP/BP50NB40 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK then to > BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK
NB52 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK with enc > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK with bootloader/full flash > BP60NB10 1.00_HBD from Marty download/file.php?id=2143
if using command line add "full" after rawflash
I downloaded "The all you need firmware pack" and "LG slim BP50NB40-NB50\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin" is the only file in there for the drive. I flashed it and in MakeMKV I see LibreDrive enabled with Firmware version 1.03. Do I still need to do something else to get to BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK?

This is a Pioneer drive and needs to be corss-flashed to enable UHD readability. Email Billycar11 your drive info above and he can help you out.
Cheers :D

Does anyone know if the Pioneer BDR-211EBK will work?

Pioneers depend on the firmware currently installed... What's your drive information?

G'Day all.

Apologies if this has been answered, I'm new to all of this. Have been using MakeMKV for ages, love it. Have a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-S12U looking to see if there is a firmware for it for UHD ripping. Reading this forum the impression I get is I'm out of luck, needs to be firmware 1.02 not 1.04 as I have. Checking if that is the case.

Drive details:

Drive Information
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-S12U
Revision: 1.04
Serial number: CDDL007444WL
Firmware date: 2022-12-20
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 76

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8F01
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-212T
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.04/ID43
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

That needs nothing. It is already libredrive enabled and is a UHD drive so just insert a UHD disc and start ripping it!

Thanks for that. I tried a disc and it failed. Mentioning libredrive wasn't supported. Is there a way of testing that?

Should work as is

I found elsewhere on the forum it does not with this particular drive and firmware... Seems firmware is not possible to patch.
