It's been over two years - is the status still the same? Do you still think this will eventually be dealt with?mike admin wrote: Sun Feb 26, 2023 4:22 pm This will eventually be dealt with. The ETA, whether drive flashing would be required, and the flashing process are yet unknown. We are working as fast as we can.

The firmware date is around December 2022 and release date is around February 2023. The sole purpose of this update is to disable LibreDrive and unofficial firmware flashing tools such as DVRtool.

Please do not update the the drive firmware, unless you really need to.

It was manufactured in 2024. I got a firmware and flash tool from another user here and was able to successfully flash it, and I'm able to rip 1080p blu-ray and even 4K discs with it. After flashing the firmware, it comes up as a BDR-S12U 1.02:

In case anyone is curious, I got this drive from amazon.jp when I was in Japan last month, having it delivered to a combini near my hotel.el_Cheffe wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 4:32 am Drive Information

Does it is possible to downgrade a firmware of the "Pioneer BDR-S13" drives that comes with pre installed firmware dated between 2023 / late 2024 to an earlier version that supports LibreDrive?
