I just tried to register MakeMKV for the first time in my life using the beta key - and it didn't work.
I had 1.9.5 installed before and now switched to 1.9.6. First it said the version was too old and then it always says the beta key (currently copied from this forum) is expired.

I am glad I found this thread because I was thinking I must be doing something wrong, but obviously I am not the only one having this problem.

I love the program so far, by the way. Recently got a Bluray and wanted to watch it using Cyberlink Powerdvd, but for some reason it didn't play sound anymore (Powerdvd is a shit program anyways if you ask me, I never liked it). So I was really pleased I could just rip the BluRay with Makemkv and watch it with my beloved MPC-HC player. It's a shame you cannot watch a bluray that you bought with your own money on a player of your choice. MakeMKV changes that - thank you!

If MakeMKV was a little cheaper I'd probably buy it, but I am only going to need it once or twice a year, so it's kind of expensive for just that.

I am now having the same issue... been using makmkv for a few months successfully, until yesterday 1-Oct-2015.
It seems Beta key no longer works as of V1.9.6
Tried re-installing, rebooting etc etc to no avail. Tried previous version 1.9.5 to no avail.
makemkv keeps reporting "Your temporary key has expired and was removed"
"Your temporary key has expired and was removed. Please restart the application."
"This application version is too old. Please download the latest version at [link] or enter a registration key to continue using the current version."
Click Register. Enter key AGAIN.
"Thank you. Please restart the application for changes to take effect."
And so it repeats over and over.

Please fix it.

key works just fine with 1.9.7.
just download the new version.

The beta key updated, the App updated, website and forum back online. All should work now. FAQ section still down though.

Yes, it's a new key now.
It works also wit 1.9.6.

Why are you shouting?

Have you even read the post you quoted? I've a year old. Of course that key doesn't work.

Maybe you should pay for a full licence instead of stamping your feet like a petulant child because you have no patience to wait for someone to give you something for free.

Looks like it may have been updated again. The one provided works now, says valid until May 2016.

Downloaded 1.9.9 (4/5/16) and tried to use this new key:
T-5gyrR7NzjlT9R4WwnwovJ591eN3s_IGkp51GQAJn0FDNQWat4uif8H_sJ6IoZN2Wv2

and it does not work. Still get the error message that the temporary key has expired and was removed. Restarted, re-downloaded and it's not valid.

Set your system date to something before 3/25. Start MakeMKV (you can put your system date back after this). Put the new key in.
