Frank,
Does your $325 Buffalo Slim USB drive work with MakeMKV on a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro for standard DVDs and 1080p Blu-rays without any firmware modifications, and what is your return policy if the drive is defective or incompatible?

We connected via e-mail. I'll copy/paste part of my reply here, in case others have the same/similar questions:

All USB optical drives work equally well with macOS, Linux & Windows (both Intel & ARM based). I actually use an old Intel Mac mini for flashing/testing. I use a pair of these from Amazon with the Mac mini I use to flash & test (currently $6.99 a pair, usually $8.99) - the slim-line drives require 2 x USB connection for the power required to rip 4K/UHD discs: Pair USB-C -> USB-A Adapters

After flashing I test all my drives with a triple layer 4K/UHD disc before shipping. I send these test results with tracking information. My flat rate shipping charges ($20 for slim-line drives) include insurance for the value of the drive. If the drive arrives non-working, then it was damaged in shipping, and insurance will cover that.

Thanks for purchasing a drive!

Thanks,
Frank
