Just want to thank Cooper who helped me with updating the FW on this drive to make it a Libredrive
Big thanks

Edit to add
This drive maybe the only pioneer drive currently available off the shelf retail new to be able to enable Libredrive for UHD purposes.
It seems Amazon USA and Canada have a prime seller with plenty of stock at fw 1.02 at a very reasonable 80 bucks, even though outside of drive is is labelled Feb 2024, so don't get put off by data on outside of drive till you actually have Makemkv analyze it
Newbie here that took the plunge on trying to get a drive from Amazon and wanted to backup what zaqqaz6917 said about the drive label.
I purchased a BRD-212DBK and the drive was labeled as manufactured Jan. 2024, however when I plugged it in and opened MakeMKV it said

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom0
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212D
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: [redacted]
Firmware date: 2022-03-16
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 63

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8F00
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-212T
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.02/ID61
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

No disc inserted
Now if I could just get some help getting the drive to read UHD discs
