I seem to also have this issue - it was centered around 4K TV Show disks at first. Most of the time it works; however, lately, more and more 4K disks read, place the title selection screen, then in about 10 seconds I receive "No Disk Error" This seems to happen from the last 2 updates, prior to that I did not have any problems with movies only TV shows. Now with the latest Beta Version Movies are suffering from the same issue.
--On this system I have 2 LG Blu-Ray, 1 LG 4K Blu-Ray and 1 Pioneer BD-07 series 4K drives.

Only the LG and it is patched with the 1.03 F/W

--Any Suggestions? (This drive has always worked find for me after more than 200 4K Disks read.)

Thanks,
Asa
I'm also having issues right out of the box new with WH16NS60. The drive randomly goes unresponsive. When it does try to read a disc I get errors. Sometimes if I get past the errors I may get errors 2 minutes into a rip or 45 minutes into one.

If you've only noticed this issue within the last 2 updates of MakeMKV, could this be a software issue and not hardware? I have a separate thread on my unique issues.

Don't mean to hijack this thread.
I have also read that Pioneers are way better, but they are also way more expensive and out of my budget. On the forum at least.
If I could find a reliable Pioneer for a good price that I can flash myself reliably, I'd love to go that route. But from reading, it seems the new Pioneer drives software doesn't support flashing for LibreDrive?
I was looking through the forum for a good model that is known to allow flashing and seems you have to buy it to see if the firmware is flashable. I'd hate to keep buying drives and returning them.
If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!

Thanks

Verbatim 43888 from Germany or UK. Contains a Pioneer BDR-UD04 and works OOTB.
Cheers :D

It looks like Amazon Germany and UK are sold out of that model. I have been seeing people on Amazon suggest this one. 43890 External Slimline

What do you think about that one?

Amazon Germany. Look under product details: 43888. But beware. In some countries they use now the LG BU40N. Check immediately the Makemkv info when you receive the drive.

Thanks coopervid! I thought they were sold out because it didn't see add to cart or buy now as an option. I did use the link you gave to buy one, but did have to pay more. I'll let you know when it comes in if it's a pioneer. Says it should be here Tuesday.

Hi All,

I know Pioneers are better, but much slower. --This LG drive worked for a long time - read maybe over 200 UHD Disks - since about the last 3 MakeMKV Beta versions are having an issue with this drive and the "Patched" F/W.

The the disk is loaded I can read the disk via MacOS shell - as soon as I launch MakeMKV I get NO DISK error. --This seems to be a MakeMKV issue that is somewhat recent. --It used to only do this when the UHD Disk was a TV show/series disk but now ALL UHD disks are doing this.

Thanks.

Ever since getting the OWC enclosure, all of my issues have disappeared for my WH16NS60 drive. I'd like to note that I'm on firmware V1.00. If you're using an enclosure, I'd give that one a try just to see what happens.

And thanks to coopervid, I am now a happy (so far) owner of a Pioneer drive. I'll be putting it to the test very soon to see how it stacks up. My LG had issues with Prometheus during what seemed like the 2nd layer transition and I'd like to see if the Pioneer does better.
