Sory for bumping an old thread, but I just the same model.
MakeMKV shows this:
Drive Information
OS device name: F:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BH16NS40
Revision: 1.00
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2112-10-31 19:17
Bus encryption flags: 17
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1939
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.00

BD raw metadata read: Partial

So can you advise on which firmware should I update to?
Thank you in advance!
Well I tried flashing it with the official 1.03 firmware, but it won't even start flashing. It looks like it does, but sits at 0% and nothing is happening. So I guess there is no use of keep trying.
So guys which drive will you recomend to me instead of my old LG? I'm looking for a one that can read all current (year 2025) blu-ray disks. I saw some Verbatim 43880,43890 external usb-c drives that are stated to read 4K disks, but not sure if they are any good.

Read the first post of the Ultimate Drive Flashing Guide 2025.
