Asus BW-16D1HT stoped reading disks suddenly

I am having the same issue sort of, my drive is not reading any Discs, DVD or Blue Ray. I have taken apart and cleaned still no joy. Changed cable, tried it on another Mac... no matter what I try Make MKV sees the drive, shows all the info about the drive... but im always getting a no disc inserted. Also when not running MakeMKV no Disc is ever loaded or shows up in any DVD/BR players.

Most likely it's dead. Try a CD, try re-flashing. If it doesn't work it's a door stop. My first NH16NS55 which is the identical hardware also died after 2 years.

full shutdown the pc flip psu switch hold power button for 10 seconds see if it works then

Just a "me too" on this. I tried restarting the PC several times and it didn't work, but unplugging the SATA power from the BW-16D1HT and plugging it back in forced it to hard reset and it started working immediately.

I’m having this same issue where no disc is found. I’ve tried pulling the PC power and haven’t been able to resolve the issue. The discs are turning. Any troubleshooting help would be appreciated.

clean the lasers if that dont work its dead
