Why would you do that???!?!??!!??
WH16NS60 1.02-MK is the recommended firmware. It is faster and removes the sleep bug. You've just given yourself a slower, buggy firmware that also has the sleep bug.
My bad. I accidentally swapped the pictures. I went from the stock BH16NS55 1.03 to WH16NS60 1.02.
And since the flashing this bug happens.
Not possible as the WH16NS60 is an official UHD drive thus it's firmware does not have the sleep bug. What you describe is not the sleep bug. That sort of thing happens with LG drives when it is having trouble reading some sections of the disc. It also happens at layer changes. The main thing is that is finishes the rip. Honestly, LG 5.25" drives are always fluctuating in speed. They rarely stay at the same speed for long.
Pioneer drives are so much better! They rip at a far more consistant speed with no concern over if it will complete the rip or not.

Can you tell me if the bdr-213ulbk by Pioneer works? You list the pioneer bdr-s213ublk. I am not sure what the difference is?

I'm confused on what firmware I should choose, (SVC Code is NB52) and from what I understand, my firmware isn't encrypted.
So, is it:
WP50NB40_1.03 > DE_LG_WP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK.bin > BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK
or
WP50NB40_1.03 > DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK > BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK
If using the SDF flasher tool, I believe I write for the first flash then use the recovery option to go back to BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK, is that correct?
Code: Select all
Drive Information
OS device name: F:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST

Highest AACS version: 65
LibreDrive Information

Either would work but for simplicity, since you have a WP50NB40, her are the steps:
1. wite WP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK.
2. recovery - select the same WP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK firmware in the popup window, then in the normal firmware selection box, choose either BP60NB10 1.00-MK or BU40N 1.00 (recommended).
3. Press START.

The BDR-XS07UHD is listed as now working for flashing, however it mentions not to get one after the December 2022 firmware update. Is this still in effect because I was looking to get one on Amazon, but it is being advertised with Firmware 2023 (Version 1.03 and up) and if it is fine, can someone suggest which firmware to use once I get it? Thanks.

Any Pioneer drive with post-12/2022 software is no longer UHD-capable. And if it's sold on Amazon, it's probably carrying that new software.

Hello group
I just got the LG BU40N Drive, on MakeMKV Beta it shows as such:
BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N 1.00 SIM21212N2843
Revision: 1.00
Drive Platform: MT1959
Firmware Version: 1.00
I've downloaded sdftool_flasher.exe and 'The All You Need firmware pack', The BIN file I'm attempting to use the the LG Slim BU40N (1.03), however I get an error message when attempting to flash:
"Command Produced error code 0xff056103'
Any pointers on how to fix this? Thank you!

No, that will not be compatible. Firmware from Dec 2022 onwards is not compatible and cannot be downgraded. Only those drives with pre Dec 2022 firmware are able to be flashed.

I'm going to mention this here because it wasn't clear to me what was mean by "the popup" for the recovery cross flashing stage and I didn't even realize it when watching the gif/video demo in the OP.
After you write the new firmware and you get to the recovery stage, you will select your drive from the top dropdown, then select the red Recovery option and immediately a popup will appear to select firmware. This popup is where you select the same firmware you just used in the "write" step. After selecting it and clicking "open" it will go back to the Flasher and the bottom dropdown will be blank. Then this is where you select the earlier firmware you want to rollback to which in my case was BU40N 1.0
I mistakenly thought the popup was where I selected the BU40N 1.0 and when it didn't appear in the bottom dropdown I thought it was a bug and reselected BU40N 1.0 and this was incorrect. I thought all the references to selecting the firmware again in the popup meant selecting the drive you just flashed in the top dropdown.
Anyways, I'm now ripping my first 4k UHD disk of the move Jaws!
Thanks everyone for the help.

Thank you so much! It works perfectly! I appreciate you!
Hey! I just ordered this drive from amazon as they seem to be shipping with firmware from 2020. Is there anything I need to do to get this working or is it an "out-the-box" job?

I did have to flash the drive for 4k to work. I am unable to send you a PM with the instructions and apparently should not post them here. Perhaps someone that can send you a PM will do so. Good luck!
