All well meant but I have sent information to make his drive UHD capable. No chance w/o flashing to UHD.
Hmm I thought drive without UHD capable firmware will not "see" UHD disc when inserted? Or do you mean some UHD firmware is bugged or so?

Not really sure what you mean but what I meant was:
Code: Select all
Disc Information
Label: GET_OUT
Timestamp: 2017-06-28 08:14:37
Protection: AACS2.0/C v61
Data capacity: 60.59 Gb
Disc type: BD-ROM UHD
Number of layers: 2
Bus encryption flags: 80
Doesn't that mean his drive is / was already UHD capable? (Even though it has only two layers -- but more than 50GB)
Besides, BDR-S12J-X is supposed to be an official UHD model anyway, AFAIK.

Ah, the Goode Olde Verbatim 43888, Pioneer model! This UHD drive should work "out of the box" with MakeMKV, without needing to have its firmware updated first. After all, MakeMKV
does[/] already say that LibreDrive is enabled
.

All non-UHD drives flashed for UHD might say that they are BEE enabled but they "lie". The chip to do so is missing.
This 211 should be used internally. If you want to rule out the root cause you should get a Benfei USB -> SATA adapter like this. If it works with that your enclosures don't support all functions. Why this happens with this 211 I don't know.

Thank you for the information. Was wondering why my old 211M 1.54 firmware was acting weird with non UHD disks. Ordering the Sata USB adapter. Thank you.
PS: Can you please share if there is a firmware that will cross flash on the 1.54 to something else more friendly?
I have the BDR flash utility already with 1.53 firmware but don't think that will work.
Thanks

It's not necessarily about power (power does matter) - it's about the USB -> SATA chipset & how completely/accurately it impliments the SATA standard. You won't find that listed in any specs. Must try/test with the adapter. And then, some Mfg's make design changes without changing model number (Archgon), and what was tested & did work, newer manufactured ones may not work.
If the adapter with power has the same USB-SATA design/implementation, then it *should* be ok, or even better with the additional power.
Thanks,
Frank

Wanted to confirm after using the Benfei adapter today so far no errors with the 211M Pioneer drive.

Thank you for your reply. You told me the truth, my drive is already ready for UHD Blu-ray. I managed to play the disc directly in VLC, AFTER having to update the makemkv registry. I added some extra files to the VLC Player folder, and I don't know if that's why it plays. However, it's not playing in MPC-be. Do I have to put those same files in the MPC folder? Is MPC-be really the best player for this? Remember that I want to play the disc directly in a player on a Windows 11 PC.

I have never had any luck getting mpc-be to play uhd discs directly. MPC-HC yes, not MPC-BE.
