Public KeyDB Disc Submissions

I’ll try it again when I get home I guess. I know I tried it right before posting my data dump and it still wasn’t opening.

I don’t want to sound rude but it wasn’t working for you earlier because you hadn’t followed the steps required to use the latest public keydb. Your disc has been in the keydb for almost 36 hours and the keydb entry is unambiguously correct.

Your issue will be at least one of:
1. You downloaded an ancient copy of the keydb from the wrong site instead of the one I linked in my instructions
2. You didn’t extract the keydb.cfg file from the downloaded zip file
3. You put the extracted keydb.cfg file in the wrong folder
4. (Linux/macOS only) You didn’t rename the keydb.cfg file to the case-sensitive KEYDB.cfg file required by certain filesystem configurations

There aren’t too many other ways to fuck up downloading, extracting and copying a file.

Yes, this Disc ID already exists in the current KeyDB, but it is not working for some reason. I tried with with two different UHD drives:

The current KeyDB did work for some other titles I had problems with so I know its installed and working correctly.

Hey freshspaghettios, thanks for the disc dump and welcome to the forum. I was pretty clear in the opening post that you shouldn't extract and upload the incomplete MKB_RO.inf file from within the disc dump:

Do not just extract the ~56 byte MKB_RO.inf file from a partial disc dump file and upload it separately. This is not helpful. Instead, copy the MKB_RO.inf file from the AACS folder on your disc and upload it separately. If your MKB_RO.inf file is not several megabytes in size, it is probably not useful for UHD discs.

You were lucky this time that the media key was already known for your disc, but future submissions will generally require the full MKB_RO.inf file.

You did calculate the disc ID/hash correctly, so your first was significantly better than the forum average.

I can't currently see the submission post for Heavy Metal, but I'll try to answer the question from memory. MakeMKV requires the volume unique key (VUK) in order to decrypt a disc via the public keydb. The 2989 variant of Heavy Metal (0x6A6DB3629A38E2AE3CB8DE52E0805353F2220771) had a record in the public keydb but it only contained the unit key. Now all four fields are known (media key, volume ID, volume unique key, and unit key(s)), MakeMKV will be able to process the disc after you grab the latest keydb.

In the future, I'd recommend trying out SamuriHL's KeyDB Tool for Windows. For your two latest discs it could've automatically derived the required keys and submitted them to the public keydb.
