I'm using Verbatim UHD Blu-ray Writer. I have original (unpatched) version.
With this writer I copied the entire movie to my hard disk. Title: GLADIATOR 2000.
So the product is definitely worth recommending.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have it now plugged into a USB3 with the dedicated power cable attached as well but it's still failing to read the disc. When inserted it starts to spin, with disc information showing "Disc is being loaded" but eventually gives me the same output as before.

Wash the disc even if it is brand new. Try again. Clean your laser lens with a CD cleaning disc.

always let your os see the disc first then open makemkv do not have it opened first this sometimes causes conflicts

I have a couple Verbatim 43890 drives and they came with external power bricks. Have you tried using this external power source? I use that and it runs fine with single USB 2.0 connection.

Like Coopervid says, clean the disc. I've had new discs come with an oily film. Sometimes the disc is just defective, too.
