Follow the guide it does not say to flash that firmware
Not sure I understand. My firmware is 1.04, I need to downgrade to 1.02 to make it UHD friendly. When I use the flasher tool I get this pop-up DRAM NG 5/26/03. Why am I getting this pop-up? How can I get it to downgrade successfully?
Thanks
you can get it to downgrade successfully by reading the guide not skimming and glancing at it you are reading the wrong model name you are seeing WH16NS40 1.02 but the guide says
WH16NS60 1.02 the use the all you need firmware pack it will simplify things for you
Got it to work flashing to WH16NS60 1.02. Yes I was skimming and glancing, sorry. One thing, do I need to flash to the WH16NS40 1.02 now, or just leave as is? I am ripping a movie now and the drive is slowing and starting quite often. Making a grinding noise if you will. Is this normal? I have never had it do this so often ripping a movie with a different software. I don't think this is the "sleep bug" I am ripping a Blu-ray disc not UHD. The door is not opening and closing. It's just making grinding noises as it rips the disc. Do I need to downgrade again to 1.00, or 1.01?
Thanks

You must first flash 1.02 MK before you can flash 1.00. And why don't you use the SDFFlasherTool?

Thanks
Dave

Hello Guitrdone,
Use Marty's SDFflasher to flash your drive. Use this file in the folder labelled HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936 to flash your drive to 1-02mk. If you then want to flash to WH16NS60 1-00DE then use the file in the other folder labelled DE_LG WH16NS60_1.00. You must flash with 1-02mk first then 1-00DE
Please use this link below to use Marty's SDF Flasher to flash your drive.

I did exactly this, and I have The Dark Knight streaming now. Can't tell if the HDR was copied, but it looks pretty good. Does MakeMKV copy the HDR info too?
Thanks a bunch!

You are welcome, and I would, however, encourage you to read the guides in more detail as this is how you will learn. I appreciate you were struggling, so I made it easy for you. MakeMKV does support HDR, but it depends on what you are playing it back on.

I have tried several methods to flash my Archgon MD-8107-U3 so far with no luck. Here is the information I get from MakeMKV:
Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: MO8M2QI0627
Firmware date: 2120-12-01 17:16
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 77
LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 1.02
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)
I've tried flashing HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.02-NM01201-211711301218.bin from the old directory of mk-firmware-pack-20200720 if I run the CLI command
Code: Select all
makemkvcon64.exe f --all-yes -d D: rawflash -i "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.02-NM01201-211711301218.bin"
I get what appears to be a successful message:
Code: Select all
Reading input file HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.02-NM01201-211711301218.bin
Flashing flags = 0x0 : 0 0 0 0 : ---- ---- ---- ----
Current Drive ID: HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_BU40N_1.02_212012011716_MO8M2QI0627
Ready to write drive flash memory. (auto confirmed)
Operation started: Sending flash image to drive
100% Operation finished
Operation started: Programming flash
100% Operation finished
Done successfully
But when I restart my computer and run MakeMKV again the drive info is unchanged. I know I am missing something and would appreciate any help that can be given.
As to why I ran the CLI and not a GUI the GUI would fail immediately see attachments for a screenshot.

Your firmware is encrypted. Add the enc flag to your command.
