Hi Bluntman,

Interested in a drive to install in my trusty cheese grater mac pro. Are both firmwares for the LG WH16NS40 equally UHD friendly? Would you recommend the LG or the ASUS? Sorry for the questions, I'm new to UHD.

Hey I recommend you reach out via email or text. But the short of it. One firmware is friendly and one is official for the LG drive. Both drives are great choices with the Asus edging out the LG just by the smallest of margins.

I'm interested in buying a drive that can rip UHD discs with MakeMKV. Is there much of a difference between the different drives other than some are internal drives and others portable?

hi Bluntman, I purchased a Asus 16D1HT from you several years ago. It has now given up the ghost and I would like to order a new blu-ray burner. My old nick was "left-y" but apparently there was some hacking incident or something which resulted in left-y getting banned or locked out. Not sure what happened there?

In any event I re-registered and now I am "bobbob" but I do not have permission to send pm's. I hope life has sent you sunshine and all is well with you and your family.
