Hello again.
Everynow and then I check if there is a new version of MakeMKV to try.
and I download the latest key.cfg
from over here.
http://fvonline-db.bplaced.net/
Is there something in the DUMP that matches an entry to the key.cfg format?
that I could search or grep for?

The Disc ID is the SHA-1 of the Unit_Key_RO.inf file in the AACS folder on the disc. You can search for that Disc ID in the KeyDB database.

So the latest keydb update gave me new errors but no listing or ripping.
Using direct disc access mode
Error 'Scsi error - HARDWARE ERROR:TIMEOUT ON LOGICAL UNIT' occurred while reading 'BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N 1.02 MOELC2F1134' at offset '99763683328'
Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading 'BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N 1.02 MOELC2F1134' at offset '99763722240'

Might need a software update for trickiness.

What in reading those errors led you to believe that? It's the disc and/or drive. Not a software problem.

For weeks I have been trying to rip the UHD Steelbook Barry Lyndon (diving ever deeper into the maze of software and coding standards etc but there has to be another additional rabbit somewhere).
A) status
1) Been ripping Blu Rays both normal and UHD with MakeMKV continously without issue.
2) Both software and KEYDB have been refreshed today.
3) KEYDB file resides in C:\Users\----\.MakeMKV .
4) SHA-1 of Unit_Key_RO.inf on disc is 480d440b07f74d6dbbdd4c21db8a7b2d953f643 (barring typing errors, I'm in quite a hurry at the moment) and is listed in KEYDB file as follows:
quote 0x480D440B07F74D6DBBDD46C21DB8A7B2D953F643 = BARRY_LYNDON (Barry Lyndon) | D | 2025-09-19 | M | 0x2ACDA10B4AC15AD9FE7D59740E6A474E | U | 1-0x9F9BAAEBE97302C770526A488DE23D16 ; MKBv82/BEE (UHD) (LEGACY) (NOTVALIDATED) (BD) unquote.
5) Software says Der Volumenschlüssel für die DVD/Blu-ray ist unbekannt - das Video kann nicht entschlüsselt werden
Das Öffnen der Disk schlug fehl so something along of I don't know the key, therefore I cannot decode the vid. Disc cannot be opened.
B) problem
Obviously it very much should know the key because it keeps operating with this very database on numerous other volumes
C) So: What am I doing wrong? I must be me, right?
Thank you very much for your help.
Kind regards.

Makemkv needs a VUK which is not present. The user Opera has just posted a link that can be processed for the KeyDB.cfg. It should be a matter of a day or so until there is the also a VUK in the database.

Thank you very much for your kind reply.
So, if the user hadn't posted the data, there would have been no other way than just waiting for somebody to do it?

The keyDB is one of two decryption mechanisms MakeMKV supports. The other is the automatically downloading hashed keys. Since MakeMKV couldn't decrypt your disc, it probably produced a dump file (a .tgz file) in the data directory as configured on the General tab of MakeMKV's preferences.
You could email that dump to
svq@makemkv.com so a hashed key can be created for that disc. And/or you could share the dump with the folks in the
Public KeyDB Disc Submissions.

Why thank you. So I will keep an eye out for those if necessary and submit them.
