Please pardon this question from a newbie, I tried searching for "submit TGZ" and didn't receive a response. How do I submit a TGZ file? I have a Transformers One BD with a MKBv81. The KEYDB.cfg file from yesterday didn't work.

I think most everywhere you look, "submit TGZ" mentions the address svq@makemkv.com to send it to. That gets it to the author of MakeMKV for processing.

MakeMKV should be able to decrypt ordinary (i.e. non-UHD) BluRays without creating a dump file to submit, and also without needing KEYDB.cfg. Does MakeMKV's log contain any messages about not being able to download anything, or not connecting to a remote server?

I don't have errors. I try to make my own disc images as backups. VLC won't play the image without an updated KEYDB.cfg file.

If your disk uses bus encryption then your backup disk image will not be usable even with a suitable KEYDB.cfg file, and all UHD disks use bus encryption. Some ordinary BD disks use it too. Can you tell me what the SHA-1 hash of the disk's AACS/Unit_Key_RO.inf file is please? E.g. by executing

Code: Select all

sha1sum AACS/Unit_Key_RO.inf
Edit:
And it looks like the ordinary BD of "Transformers One" does indeed use bus encryption:

Code: Select all

0xB92FC273DC90135808D465A98F77AB341B63D40D = TRANSFORMERS_ONE (Transformers One) | D | 2024-09-18 | ... ; MKBv81/BEE/FindVUK 1.79 - VolumeSize: 40216559616 (BD)
You will need to use MakeMKV's "back-up" option to create your disc images, because this will remove the bus encryption. And if you tell MakeMKV to create a decrypted backup then VLC should have no difficulty playing it.

Thanks for telling me. I haven't seen anything about this before, but I went looking into this after your comment. It looks like I need to reconsider how I do my backups. This program is definitely worth the price.
