Thankfully I am in the trial period. Never tried but I have heard great things about PowerDVD seems to be great but it's only on Windows.
PowerDVD removed the ability to play UHD discs. Only the older versions from a couple of years ago can and as it is (was) official UHD playback software, playback only works if your PC meets the UHD playback requirements. I'd forget about PowerDVD!!

As much as I don't like them, I think DVDFab has a player that may work for you. I'm not sure if it shows the menu's though. You'd be hard pressed to find any other UHD playback software besides those mentioned by SamuriHL.

Maybe it's time to forget about UHD playback (with menu's) as it's not really a thing. 99.9% of people that do use software for UHD playback don't want the menu's etc. They just want to get straight into the movie!

When my HTPC is working (currently in rebuilding phase), I use JRiver MC to play everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. And if I want menus, it gives me menus 99% of the time. I personally rip all my stuff to MKV on my NAS so that all my toys can play with my library, but if you're insistent on full disc playback, JRiver is the best I've seen for that. MakeMKV integration does work with it. Or you can use MakeMKV to rip to folder and open that. Whatever works for you.

BINGO! It works!!

Endless thanks for Andy1249’s specific instructions.

Using VLC player I can even play my one 4K BD. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Double-I ... ay/311288/

I did have to use my keyboard's Enter key to get it to start, rather than VLC's play button. But it's beautiful!

All of my 2K BDs load normally. And with all of them I can use VLC’s flawless slow motion on the fly!

No doubt it will also enable JRiver, in which case I will have fully functional zoom and DTS-MA decoding!

All of this success will finally make my home theater plans a reality.

As promised, I just purchased a license.

Thank you!

I don't know about the mac versions, but if you follow all of these simple steps from andy1249 and both Windows VLC and JRiver should then play your BDs. https://www.avforums.com/threads/slysof ... t-32692350

Don't know. I'd have to look at it again as it's been a few months since I last used it. I use my macbook primarily for Davinci but I do have JRiver installed. If I get a chance I'll take a look.
