The volume id is embedded in one of the files that makemkv creates when creating a dump or disc backup. It needs to be parsed from that file. The file is not text.

I have created a tool that can extract the VID and calculate the correct MK and VUK from the backup created by makemkv. If you share this backup I can give you the VUK. I don't need the whole backup. I only need the discatt.dat file and the AACS directory.

AFAIK your tool would need an unrevoked AACSv2 device key in order to calculate the MK for a UHD disk. The only publicly known device keys are for AACSv1, i.e. standard non-UHD BluRays.
You should also be aware that MakeMKV obfuscates the VID inside its
discatt.dat file, for certain drive models.

I know about it. My tool is based on libaacs and needs valid non-revoked device keys or processing keys. Because keys for UHD are not publicity known so I can calculate VUK only for standard Blu ray disc.

I didn't know about it. My drive doesn't do that and I always get a valid VUKs, but for certain drive models it may not always be true. Thank for inform me about it.

Yes, that's what I suspected

. However, most of the TGZ dump files shared here will be for UHD disks because MakeMKV can also do what your tool can do for standard Blurays. There's just a small pause right now for those disks using MKBv82...
