CSS affects decoding the contents, not the readability of the data. I've made DVD ISOs with dd a number of times.
(back before I decided "extras" were one-time watch for me)

It would be nice if MakeMKV could save DVD to an unencrypted VIDEO_TS folder similiar to how it does with Blu-ray. I like to save DVDs to my hard drive as an unencrypted VIDEO_TS folder first.
There is also vobcopy on Linux that can do this with libdvdcss, but having one program to do it would be nice.
