Man I'm glad I didn't have this issue lol. I guess I got lucky, all three of mine ripped no issue. The only weird thing that happened for me was with Avengers 1. It was going good and then it dropped all the way down to 0.4x read speed and took nearly 2 hours to rip. Playback in PLEX showed 0 issues though so I guess it's fine.
In my experience with over 31 UHD movies now that error is usually a disc with some sort of invisible film on it ( needing cleaning for seemingly no reason as Jon pointed out ) OR just a bad multi-layer disc. To date I still can't get Dunkirk to rip after 3 copies from amazon in my 4 LG WH16NS40 Drives.

If the replacement ultron doesn’t work maybe I’ll try the steel book version instead

I am the greatest ripper of all time, lol.
Came home at lunch and Infinty War had backed up completely cannot believe it.
Anyone reading this that is waiting on a drive from me this is the delay.
The new Gold Rip standard is Infinity War, Star Wars has nothing on this fucker.
You think it’s possible they can measure the quality of the burned disc at the factory and route the highest scoring units to the steelbook packages while leaving the just squeezed by QC units to the regular peon packaging?
Yeah no conspiracy theories here

ha, congrats!
Is it actually the same disc in both packages?

Yes it's the same disc but ask yourself a simple question....during shipping, would you rather have your disc protected in a STEEL FREAKING CASE or a flimsy plastic case? Just a thought.

All of mine ripped without issue. I always microfiber clean them before ripping and that's always worked for me.

I'm wondering if some drives have less tolerance for disc anomalies than others.

New Ultron and Into Darkness discs arrived.
Tried both in AnyDVD for kicks and both completed perfectly.

Well that's great news for the rest of us, who use and discuss makemkv here
I'm busting your balls!

I know lol. I use makemkv a lot too. I assume makemkv would have been fine too - my bad discs didn’t work in either program.

the issue with discs failing is build 1.12.3, install 1.12.2 and every disc backs up just fine

I would love for Mike to tell us why because some of us have no issues at all with 1.12.3. I just recently burned some of the Marvel movies since they were just released in UHD with no problems but others have nothing but problems with the latest release. Go figure.

Yeah there’s more to it than that. My Into darkness and a few other titles had issues long before the newest makemkv was out. There can be more than one source of issues and disc quality can definitely vary as many of us have experienced first hand.
