So, im guessing this is a different drive with spoofed FW?. Assuming i cant return it, what do you guys think?
Also, if this is an old drive from 2013 then why is it a 8801?...i thought that was newer V2?.
It does work in reading UHD discs but of course MMKV cant decrypt them?...im guessing?. I just get a bunch of "SCSI invalid commands"
EDIT: Umm okayy... Now it works all the sudden in MMKV and its playing the UHD film in VLC. Please explain that one somebody.
Oh, BTW and FWIW I am more interested in just watching my UHD Blu Rays directly from the disc on my HTPC right now. Ripping will be a future activity when i add a ton of storage.
Thank You in advance to anyone that can help me out here, or just offer their two cents.
your drive was originally a 208 and should have been flashed to 8800 but the Chinese sellers are spoofing junk to break junk for some reason
its newegg you can return it dont support these fakers. flashing that drive can be done to make the errors go away but lot of extra work because they did it wrong mike could just add support for that but who know if that will happen
dont flash that drive on your own or through bdr flash it will die
