Just to let people know, I've ripped over 500 discs with the Verbatim 43888 which I bought in June/July and it's a pretty great drive. It's pretty resilient too, I dropped it today when it had a disc in and whilst the disc got damaged the drive continues to work and read discs like a champ! It works out of the box with LibreDrive for me. Here are some issues I've had with the drive:

- Sometimes MakeMKV thinks a decryption key doesn't exist for an old 4K disc.
- Sometimes MakeMKV stops being able to recognise and rip any disc
- Rarely the drive will stop responding to eject commands and unplugging/replugging it will result in a full system reboot on my Mac Mini.
- Very rarely the drive starts erratically seeking for 5-15 minutes which delays how long a rip takes but it always fixes itself

Often all it takes to solve problems with the drive is to close MakeMKV, eject the disc, unplug the drive, plug it back in, reopen MakeMKV and finally close the disc tray. So it's not a drive that works 100% perfectly but it does job well enough that I feel comfortable recommending it. I've yet to have a disc be unable to rip apart from Mad Max 2 from the new 5-film collection but 2 of the 7 discs arrived badly scratched from the poor packaging design, not really the fault of the drive itself.

Looking to order one of these myself as my LG is playing up. Ideally I'd like to find a Pioneer drive, but that's proving more difficult.

I've found BDR-209EBK on eBay, but not sure.

I have just purchased a Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD from Asmcom on here. According to Pioneer they are being discontinued - https://pioneer-blurayodd.eu/products/b ... /index.php

Correct. Pioneer are out of the optical drive game. They ceased manufacturing a few months ago.
