Thank you, however I tried to flash it and I'm getting:
Code: Select all
Drive and firmware hardware types don't match.
Sorry. I just learned a few days ago that the RS859x firmware belongs to a BD combo and not a BD writer (RS851x). So your drive can't be flashed. Only writers can be flashed for reading UHDs.
Ok, Thank you anyway
What drive would you'd recommend I get for best compatibility?
Tell me your country of residence and then I will send a PM to you.

Any chance to downgrade to 1.03 ?
come on peter you have been messaging me and asmcom for weeks then you buy this you knew this would be the case your are out of luck for now
it will happen eventually but not today
I make order in asmcom, and they cancel my order after ~1,5 hour after order not give time time to pay, and now close site. I do not messaging asmcom for weeks, for one day or two maybe.
I tried to buy localy in my country but right no luck, why I bought it because on box on back sticker it had manufactuer date August 2022, but this unit was from customer return from UK (probably someone make fw upgrade and thats why he return it) and seller sell it in my country, so I return it without any problem to him also.

WHAT'S THE REASON ? Please tell me here and now, or you do not want here, answer on my email, why do you do not want deal with my, because I still do not know what's the REASON.
I do not see any fault from my side, I made orders and wanted to pay for them of course, and you do not gave me a chance to do it canceling my two orders so fast, even not warn me before cancel to please pay instanlly, also it was Sunday!.
Also I pleased you to return my order and I will pay instanlly, and you do nothing, zero feedback from you.
And now suddenly you do not want to deal with me now

what's wrong with you people there !
I'm in shook never I have never encountered such an approach to the customer. If I have same approch to clients in my work my boss will fired me instanlty.
You have to learn much more how to work with client on high level.
But what to expect from people who inform on your own site about reopen the website on Monday, 14th April 2025, today is 16th April and still nothing, still closed, even no any updated info and appologies to their clients. Huge dissapoitment.

Hi Everyone. I recently got a BDR-S12U for UHD disks before coming across this thread and discovering it has the dreaded Dec 2022 firmware, which I see has hobbled LibreDrive functionality. I'll put this back in the box until the day comes where there is a LibreDrive breakthrough...
The drive I was using previously is Pioneer BDR-209D. Judging by some posts here, it looks like there might be hope of using this for 4k UHD disks and LibreDrive mode. Am I in luck with this drive? Screenshot shows standard BD, UHD disks don't show up with anything. Thanks!

I have a BDR-XS06 that I never updated, and every time I put in a 4K UHD, all it does is spin it for a minute, and spit it back out.
Here’s what MakeMKV shows:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-XS06
Revision: 1.01
Serial number: XXXXXXXXXXX
Firmware date: 2015-03-24
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 81
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8721
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-XS06
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.01
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
What should I do?

I have never come across a XS06. Let me do some investigation. I did some research and don't think this is flashable.

Any chance to downgrade to 1.03 ?
I'm honestly curious about this myself. Has anyone ever considered the possibility of more risky flashing tools like the KeeYees SOP8 SOIC8 Test Clip and CH341A USB Programmer? Just curious if it would even be possible to clamp on a chip on the board and copy and flash firmware or not. I have the exact same drive and problem. While I do have 1 libredrive enabled drive, I'd love to have this one as well.
