Mr McNuts - I thank you very much. My drive is whirring away ripping NxNW as I type. A testament to a community with helpful people. Much appreciated...
You're welcome!!

Hi All, I'm hoping for some help. I just had a new Vebatim Drive Delivered 43888. I tried to flash it today but I get the error message "The drive you have selected does not have the correct drive platform (MT 1959) and cannot be flashed." I'm trying to install the firmware DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin
These are the drive details;
Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Current profile: DVD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: MOAOB1F5013
Firmware date: 2124-04-23 13:47
Any help or guidance would be massively apprecitated. I'm hoping to back up my 4k discs. Cheers.

This is weird. The drive platform information is missing in your Makemkv info which suggests that this drive is based on a nwe chipset instead of MT1959. Then it can't be flashed. I suggest to return it. What's your country of residence?

That's the problem I thought I had there are a lot of different scenarios but I got that error message "The drive you have selected does not have the correct drive platform (MT 1959) and cannot be flashed." So am I missing a step or did I not do something right?

Post your command line. There's also an override but I'm not good with Mac computers.

Sorry I did this using the SDFtool Flasher Windows GUI Tool not on the mac. I use Parrallels which allows me to have a Windows machine on my Mac as well. Does it have something to do with the 1.05 version of the drive and the Flash Firmware is 1.03?

Thanks Marty McNuts, it worked!
I got an error during the second flash but my BP50NB40 works perfectly.

I'd be surprised if flashing firmware worked via Parallels.

Just followed the guide and used the software to flash my WP50NB40 to the BU40N. Holy cow that was easy, can't believe I waited so long to try it. Currently in the middle of ripping my first UHD and then will try and rip a regular BD to confirm that still works. Thanks so much for all the work on this!
