Re: Pioneer BDR-UD03 UHD possibility
Hello Guys,
An acquaintance will grab around 10 of these Pioneer drives. I will have the opportunity getting one for "free". Condition unknown.
From the various MakeMkv reports posted here, it looks like these drives are LibreDrive enabled with the original firmware.
Could one of you tell me what are the main features of these drives ? And what will be gained by flashing them ?
Many thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge !
P.S. : I plan to install it into an old Lenovo laptop. It will replace the DVD burner installed by Lenovo....

Re: Pioneer BDR-UD03 UHD possibility
While many Pioneer drives / firmware are supported as LibreDrive, not all of them support UHD. "Modern" models (i.e. those have full BDXL support) can often be crossflashed with firmware from "sibling" models to gain the UHD support. There are also a few firmware that are not supported / recognized as LibreDrive, in which case you may want to crossflash it to make it a LibreDrive as well, or else you'll have to wait until mike add the support (which may or may not happen).
